Keeping Bridezilla at bay

You’ve seen it happen before.  As the wedding date draws closer, the sweet girl you’ve known suddenly mutates into a stressed, ferocious, psychotic bridezilla.  She becomes bossy and sarcastic to her friends, abrupt and harsh towards family and you might even catch her crying over a slight henna mishap.  You have promised yourself not to transform into such a monster when the time comes for you to get hitched.

Here are some tips to keep you from going cuckoo during those final days before the wedding!

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Yes, it is your wedding day and it is easy to get carried away with all the fantasies of a flawless event but when you set your expectations too high, you are going to be disappointed.  Be realistic about your budget and the luxuries that you can afford.  DO NOT EXPECT PERFECTION from your family and friends and always keep in mind that they are doing their best to help you.

EARLY PREPARATION
The best advice for any couple preparing for a wedding is to start preparing as early as possible. As soon as the date is set, get out your laptop (or pen and paper for the technologically challenged) and make a list of everything you need to do before the wedding.  Never wait for the last minute to begin your grooming and beauty treatments.  There are so many wedding service providers out there these days, so the earlier you start, the more time you have to choose the best one for you.

SPA & BEAUTY
There is nothing like a good massage to relax those tense muscles.  Pampering yourself is a great way to relieve stress especially as the wedding date gets closer. Make an appointment with a recommended spa and check out the packages offered for brides and bridegrooms.  Many spas have special wedding packages for couples, which you might be interested in.  It can be a great way for you and your partner to spend quality time together without discussing the wedding!

HIT THE GYM
An intensive workout 3 times a week will not only give you a feeling of complete rejuvenation but also keep you in shape and do wonders for your skin.  Hit the gym or jog around your neighbourhood for a short break and to get your mind off the wedding preparations.  A vigorous workout improves your blood circulation making you keel refreshed and prepared to face the next task on your wedding checklist.

BACKUP PLAN
Try to always have a backup plan.  In case the caterer/beautician/musician cancels at the last moment, do you have an alternative?  Check out several service providers before making the final choice.  Do not select the first provider you meet as you should also survey and compare prices to avoid being cheated.  When you have made your selection, be open to possibilities of cancellation and prepare other alternatives so you don’t panic if the cameraman calls to cancel two weeks before the wedding.
